things i love

1. kountry kitchen kute! what's not to love. first of all, let's be clear, i love a themed room. LOVE.
sort of like a costume for your home. and it makes decorating so, so easy. cows? chicken? geese? home is where the heart is? light me a pumpkin pie, yankee candle and call it a day! loving this canister set. see the speckled glaze? love that. really inspiring for my next trip to 'color me mine' just a little touch of americana......
makes your whole world that much more special.
2. decorative room fragrance covers. this might be new to you. but i've been admiring this great little crafty invention for years. how can you not want to look at that baby doll face turned old southern belle? purple is the hottest color in interior design right now. and we know why!
here's another version. most likely one inspired the other (chicken or the egg?) this one covers a box of tissues with a beautiful little mother of chakka face.
3. the toilet trio middle of the night, nature calls, half asleep, eyes at half mast, you shuffle your feet onto the cold ceramic floor and without thinking, have a seat (girls) isn't it great not to be made aware of your mistake by the coldness of the closed toilet lid? but rather the lovely, plush of your toilet seat. equally nice, for you men, is the catch-all affect of the little matching rug. like a big bacteria sponge, just soaking it all up.
what's so super great is that really, the sky's the limit on color and design. you want to match that new wallpaper border? not a problem. and what's also really fabulous, it appears that an entire cottage industry has arisen around this brilliant and beautiful concept. these seem to be created out of polar fleece. which is always nice. synthetic is a good thing. very durable. go pack!
4. the negative look no i do not speak of that 'look' worn by petulant teenagers. i'm talking about this great styling trick: see? like a filmy photo negative (pre digi cam) so pretty. really makes a tan face look....tanner. i'm pretty sure that adorable, lizzie grubman inspired this classic, time-less look. i've always wished i could get away with white eyebrows like she does. looking like a neanderthal can be really misunderstood. thankfully we have lizzie to show us how it's done, right! to this look i say, 'white on!'
5. the wind needs socks.
we all so love a windsock. this is probably an obvious. who doesn't like a spinning, brightly colored (sometimes even holiday festive) tube of nylon hanging out front. maybe a 'mom's number one' for the up coming day would be nice. but if you can't swing that, a nice butterfly will carry you through spring summer and even fall (dont' worry, nobody can see the grey, mold from the street. these guys are meant to hang 'till they fall on their own)
6. a themed throw
i think i may have a theme theme going on here! but my list would not be complete without mentioning one of my favorite things to wrap up in when i sit down to watch "idol".
aren't they sweet? and really quite reasonable. 7. the art of thomas kindkade some call him 'the profit of light'. masterful at his execution of all things fuzzy, romantic and ethereal. although i do like a house that's christmas all year around (think themed house)....i think this one of fenway would be a wonderful memory for me (as i lived a few blocks from here) but if i couldn't have that (or maybe if i was fortunate enough to have an entire collection) i'd go for this happy, lilac hazed piece of dreaminess.
oh....and by the way. april fools.

I knew it was tongue in cheek from the start, so was only marveling at where you came up with the images! I have received themed throws from my folks. And, poor Mr. B, they know he likes golf and hunting, so he is forever doomed.

Yes, I really love all those things too! Pause. Not.

ACK! I thought you had gone bonkers, forgetting what day this is.

I sat there on the first image really concentrating and trying to find the style somewhere in the room. No joke I was scratching my head thinking I was crazy. It took about 20 seconds of pondering then I was like, "ah-ha! She got me!"

What a great use of Lizzie Grubman! Funny funny post. :)

HA!! It took me a second to realize that you hadn't gone completey batty.

ps- I'm pretty sure that wallpaper border in the kitchen is the same one that was all over my house. That came down very quickly.

who knows, maybe kountry kitchen is the new boho mod.

when looking for shots of a good old toilet seat rug, i came across an AT posting giving it the thumbs up. are they smoking crack over there?

has anyone seen lizzie grubman lately? it was all, "pdiddy's white party, reality show, my daddy's car, blah blah blah' and then *poof* off the radar. i'm thinking she and heidi fleiss need to start collaborating on something. what a great team that would be.

Themed throws are the worst of worse...esp. when people think they're being all clever and cute, and go and get their wedding picture made into a blanket!! I know you'd never do that, and thanks for this post...I needed a good laugh!

I'm dying about that disembodied head with a giant buffont. I don't know if I can go back to pulling my tissues out of a normal box after seeing that.

Oh. My. God. I actually thought you were serious for a minute. The K's in the first title should have been my klue. You really had me going. I was going to say the ONLY thing I didn't totally hate was the pinecone plate.

By the way, did you notice last time you were here that there's still a Thomas Kincaid store on the Plaza? Shows you how much the Plaza has declined. Remember when it was cool little boutiques and a national chain only every two or three blocks? Macy's, Sears, Woolworth's. Kaplan's, Harzfeld's, Adler's, Halls, Swanson's? Remember the bowling alley and movie theaters?

I guess I'm old; those days are gone. Now it's Cheesecake Factory and GAP. There are only a few surviving local boutiques.

Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Drek.

Way to go, you fooler.

AJD, you shouldn't comment as "Anonymous"! That's BB8's least favorite (or most favorite) commenter!

Besides, you should have YOUR own blog, lady!

annechovie said...

Ok, first off, you should win some sort of contest for exactly pegging all that's wrong with American bourgeois decor. It was truly hilarious, Megan. I still can't decide what was more disturbing, the wild-haired tissue cover or the Lizzie Grubman look-alike model's eyes (like a horror movie!)Touche'!

All this is awful but your taste is quite awful too. Don't fool yourself. We have a blast looking at your blog and laughing. Nothing worse than someone who thinks she is class and sophisticated and is not.

Try again. We are far very far from Provo. And, seriously, get some class. You are certainly old enough.

My eyes, my eyes.

Wow. Anonymous is a miserable, hateful little shrew, honey.

I love you to bits.

eh. i see anonymous comments that are meant to be hurtful, the way i see a homeless person on the street:

sitting in their own urine, talking to themselves, yelling profanities at passerbys: briefly interesting but nothing personal.

the B to the Log

it's all about me, really.
