Please tell me you know of Christopher Spitzmiller and his incredible hand made, ceramic lamp collection? I know, some of you just gave me a big weary sigh and a shake of the head. but whether you are well versed in his stunning work or are new to it all, you must jump over to the NY social diary's house post featuring him, his home and the studio where all the magic happens.
But first a few teasers:um.I don't mean to sound like a 10 year old talking about Kevin Jonas, but really, what's not to love.
I'm trying so hard not to be that blogger who steals other blogger's stories, but the images of his home {and there are more} are beautiful. nysocialdiary
and then, by god, the man lets us peak into his closet. and guess what, he is human.

but for me, after the interior shots, this is where the story gets great. The post gives you a tour of his studio, interviews him about the process, why the lamps cost so damn much, and the creators behind the process.
I believe Spitzmiller to be one of the great designers/artists of our time. His work 'cost so damn much' because what he creates is fine art. And relatively speaking, it's worth every damn penny.

I'm shocked – wire hangers! But it doesn't really matter when you make great lamps like those.

Thanks for the introduction to Spitzmiller and his art/works! I have never heard of him and his fabulous collection. That's why I love blogging so much, you learn something new and great literally everyday!
Have a Great Day!
These lamps and the story behind them are amazingly beautiful, so is the man!
His work is beyond beautiful. Seriously, the work and artistry that goes into each of his lamps is incredible. The end result can only be achieved by hand.
Something about that closet in an,otherwise, stunning pad put me at ease. Maybe because I'm currently closet handicapped.
Paloma, isn't his work just sheer beauty? It's the work of an angel.
Ivy, so glad that I got to introduce you to his work!
AMAZING!
What beautiful lamps. They are perfect. I would love a pair in my home.
I enjoyed the closet picture as well, because mine is quite a messy state at the moment. So it just goes to show that everyone is human.
Spitzmiller is terrific. Thanks for the introduction!
I know you know this - but I ordered a pair of his lamps for a client. First of all, the folks were a complete dream to work with and two - when the lamps came in? The glaze would make angels sing. Nothing, but nothing, is "the same thing."
btw - what ever happened to your closet series? Are you planning to blackmail me?
Yes, those wire hangers have to go!
Target has the nice ones very reasonably priced per dozen.
SO funny others pointed out the wire hangers! I couldn't help but think if he charges that much for a lamp, he could certainly run out to IKEA and get himself some wooden ones for the photo shoot! His lamps are spectacular in all seriousness...
