sadly, we've lost one of the most incredible voices of our time. for those of you who aren't big opera buffs, here he is in a more contemporary format. (there is some speculation as to if this is the actual translation of the song. or if it's been bono-ized. anyone know? i so digressed)

Pretty. Are those really the tranlated words? I was suspicious that they had been Bono-fied. Thanks for posting this.
oh oops. i guess, the original words were taken from Sir Walter Scott's poem The Lady of the Lake and Adam Storck wrote the German translation Franz Schuber used for his song.
HOWEVER, it seems that according to other resources, that it's actually like a 'hail mary'
no matter. i like bono's words. they work for me.
I had ths sung at our church wedding -- the orginal Ave Maria version, sung in Latin. Beautiful!
It's perfect, how nice of you to dedicate a post for him. I so enjoyed listening. :)
The passing of a great legend. He will live on in his music. This is one of my favourite songs. I play his CD when I am cooking Italian food. Get me in the mood.
