sometimes i really wish i had no problem, blatantly, stealing ideas and then taking full credit for them. because this would be a time that i'd like to copy and say, smugly 'it was nothing, these things just come to me'
but i'm not built that way, i just can't. i wouldn't be able to sleep at night. besides, the karma spank would take me out of this atmosphere.

i recently saw this on stationary designer, liz coulson libre's
'linda and harriett' blog. and it might be the most clever, wedding gift i've heard of in a long time {if ever}

her brother, "is giving his friends five bottles of wine as their wedding gift with the intention that each bottle be opened on special anniversaries - first year, second year, fifth year, tenth year and first child. He has selected the wine based on these years"
and of course, how lucky is her brother that he has a sister loaded with such talent. i swear when i attempt this, i will give liz FULL credit.

That is brilliant! (and love the tags)
i love this idea...i thought about doing it for several couples who seem to have everything and always end up buying something off their registry...
Well thank you!!!!!!!
I really have to say, it was all his idea. And a great one at that.
Feel free to use it though! I sure will.
omg. what a great idea. love it.
It is a fabulous idea, but I read about it (I can't remember where) more than three years ago.
I wish I knew where they got that paper. Maybe designed + printed it out on their own? Looks like Rubie Green's East Village.
This is a spectacular idea. I'm amazed when people can be this creative.
Those tags are so adorable!!!
Oh this kind of thing can backfire quite nastily - what happens if they don't last 10 years - or they find out they can't have kids - those bottles of wine are going to be a nasty reminder...
well.... I try and give gifts that project support. BUT...Maybe dry erase tags would be better. or fill in the blank if there's some fragility in question
I'm doing this for a very late wedding gift. I hope it will excuse my tardiness!
I know this is an old post, but just stumbled upon it and wanted to chime in that it can also be done for a wedding guest book - which is what I did for our wedding. I had bottles of wine set up for 1, 5 and 10 years and then little pieces of paper for each where people could write notes for each anniversary and put them in the wine bag. We read our first anniversary notes while drinking our first anniversary bottle and really enjoyed the little flashback and tidbits from our family and friends!
