watch out...

just in time for the holidays,
chicken soup and moth balls are dictating the design world.
i fully expect that red volvo station wagons, with labs in the back and wreaths on the {car} grill for christmas, are soon to follow.

Too funny! Does everything come back in style?!
M,

I hope you still like me after this comment, but I have a piece of plaid clothing in my closet. Ah I just realized that it's 2.

One is a dress from Urban and the other is a RL shirt. Both remind me of the Fall. Snuggling up to a fire and the holiday season that is approaching.

Maybe we need some beachy So-Cal plaid to get you into it.

camilla,

oh...I'm sure, give in, after a few months of seeing this, I'm going to be sneaking in a bit of plaid in someplace. I seem to buckle on these things. I'm impressionable in my old age.

BUT not in my home. never does my little beach house need a chair wrapped in a flannel lanz nightgown

This is sort of the mini skirt in my closet. Bill's first house had a lot of plaid. My doing. The WSH ad made me a bit nostalgic.

It makes me wonder if I should just never throw out any of my old clothes, they always seem to come back in sort of way. I've always had a slight fetish with plaid so I'm happy to see it 'in'.

mrs b.... REALLY? it all looks so itchy to me. maybe because it's 80 degrees and i'm grumpy
Oh good--I am glad it is not just my Scottish family keeping the plaid industry alive. I am going to feel extra stylish in my bathrobe tonight!

Hahaha! I have kept a tartan plaid long skirt to wear when I go to the Renaissance Faire....maybe it can now be worn elsewhere!

megan,
i've fallen prey. I wore this today:
http://www.forever21.com/heritage1981/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=81Woven%5Ftop&product%5Fid=2053372599&showBACK=OK
perfect for florida. I actually bought both colors. I went out this evening and all 3 errands I ran I got a compliment on my shirt, which reassures me that I'm not alone in my love for the tartan! :) I think the chair is taking it to the next level, I'm not there yet!

I'm sure this won't surprise you......Still have my LA black watch jumper that I have never stopped loving. And had my kilts from HS all made shorter about 10 years ago. Havn't worn them. Glad I can now. And especially glad that they still fit.

plaid is best left to burberry...

although, i'm strangely attracted to that chair! lol - that's my bunny mcdougal side talking, sorry!

Oh, no! This is so funny because I am doing a post on that chair because (she says with a red face) I bought it two years ago!!

Damn the Williams Sonoma Home store and its perfect merchandising that would make me think that chair would actually fit into my home (that will probably be my headline).

Note: It's comfy as hell but is about to be recovered any day now. :-)

j~of COURSE you still have that jumper! where do you wear it though? and do you still own a turtle neck that goes beneath it??? you have to send me photos.

erika, somehow, i know you've made the plaid not look chicken soup ish

i think the chair looks really comfy. i just think it looks seasonal and 'men's grill', and...well...really itchy.

meg...I have two yellow labs too! ditched the volvo station wagon about 5 years ago.

i'm clearly out numbered.

really? everyone loves this?

M - I wear that jumper with a new white turtleneck each year. Or sometimes navy or black. With tights. And either RL flats or black boots. For years it was for church on Christmas Eve - sort of my own little holiday tradition. (I'm sure partly based on 4 little kids and a very tired mom dressing herself last). Now I wear it on days when I could be wearing jeans but feel like I want just a little dressing up. Like to the grocery store.

still not surprised are you?!

Oh yeah -- and I just remembered it is you that sent me the LA boys outfit when I had Charlie. warms my heart...

And I have that RL purse in black watch that I think I'll go pull out of the back of the closet right now.

BB8,
Tartan makes me swoon. Whether it's dressing a piece of furniture or people.
I use tartan seasonally - When late October insinuates itself, out come the tartan wool throw pillows, tartan wool blankets to toss over chair backs and a tartan slipcover or 2 for the club chairs.
It really does work, in ice-pelted, blizzardy Wisconsin - with a roaring stone fireplace, dark wood furniture, white crown molding, white baseboards and dark wood floors.
However, by early March I am ready to lighten things back up again, but we always have some incarnation of tartan in our house (and closets) regardless of the season.
Check out Jeffrey Banks book "Tartan: Romancing The Plaid".

J~ I'm so glad when my friends haven't changed a bit! but it kind of freaks me out a little too. I don't think i've worn a turtle neck since living in so cal....except maybe to go snowboarding.

I do love a black watch on a toeheaded baby. nothing wrong with that!

And the funny part... if you would think back to those lives we had created for ourselves on paper back in HS .. first off you'd think I'm not that far off... then think about my life and my family and where we have lived and what we have done and I've probably changed the most.

I've just toted that jumper all over the world.

No one (except Catholic school girls) should ever, ever, every have a piece of plaid stretched across their ass. It makes everyone look fat.
