trippy

Tired of the ubiquitous coral prints from the past few years?
How about something not so cutesy, a bit more literal. Something less cartoony and more, naturally beautiful. Natural Curiosities is one of my favorite places to look for beautiful, smart imagery of all things beastie.
Their recent line of triptychs based on antique photographs and engravings, is their newest endeavor into the world of specimen images. Provocative in their theme and size, they add instant pow power to any room.
Lord Denver's horse Aditoc-
This collection comes from a beautiful vintage photograph depicting Lord Denver's prize horse "Aditoc" after the winning race in 1928. The photographer is unknown Dimension: 50.8" x 22.8" (each panel)
Here, ya go. This one's for all of you, forementioned, who like me can't handle another coral cartoon.....sure it's a bit bold a bit of a risk {rarely has "beautiful" come from being safe}, but also sort of beautiful in that floaty, stellar way.
Lord Bodner's octupus- The original is a copperplate engraving by Lord Bodner and was published in 1826 in London as part of a series studying creatures of the deep. It also comes in brown -Dimensions: 51.6" x 23.6" (each panel) Caspari Horse-
This collection has been inspired by an old photograph that was originally purchased in auction in England. The photograph depicts an aristocratic lady standing by her champion horse in 1904-Dimensions: 24" wide by 32" high (each panel)

I love that octopus! But I am afraid of fish (while swimming, not eating) and think if I hung it on my wall I might give myself a heart attack.

You have quite the fascination with large equines lately...what would Freud say? ha ha. I love it too.

I just saw the large Equine horse last night on T.V. I have been working too much lately, I can't remember where I saw it?

I have always loved that octopus print. Too bad being married to an artist has left me with very little wall space.

* Oh, girlfriend, I could NEVER have that horse print, no matter HOW wonderful!!! WISH I COULD appreciate it's real beauty/art, but I just can't help it!~~~ It reminds me of the cow pic that shows all the "best parts" of the cow (to EAT!...And, I think Charles Faudree had one of THOSE Pics in one of his houses)... and, it always just breaks my animal-loving heart!!! I KNOW it's "crazy", & I NEVER act "cutesy" about it (& can't STAND it when women DO!!!), whether at home or in public, but I just can't fathom that... Luckily, others CAN appreciate it & NOT "see" that, tho!!!~~~~ QUESTION: Does ANYONE ELSE out there have the same "thing" I do??? I really wish I WEREN'T that way, but my DH says it's "just the way I am & can't HELP it"!... Best, Linda *

Oh my Gosh, you have no idea, i have been racking my bloggy brain for a month TRYING TO REMEMBER where i saw something!
You just reminded me. Natural Curiosities is where i saw it.

Thank you Megan for posting something new but really not so pretty! I agree with "Mom"...

A Slap in the head post. I've had three photos I took years ago of fox hounds lying in the sun in their kennel and have always wanted to create a triptych for my wall. You've inspired me. Many thanks, Homer.
That first horse I have coveted since I saw that room the first time. I try not to think about it. Times are tough, who am I to spend 4K on a horse - one third of which is the south end - my sensible native Kansan husband would walk straight off the job.

I like the black and white horse - octopus scare me though - but then again so does anything that I am not sure if there is a way to make there name plural or not...

I have seen these ...They are absolutely Amazing!!!
I LOVE them...saw them at Mecox a year ago. Ever since, Have often thought about taking one of my equine loving daughters horsey posters and cutting it in three. It'd be cheap, eh?

I've seen the octopus print in a store on La Cienega (Mecox?) and it's quite spectacular! Very ethereal and not dark in the least. I was always a little creeped out by octopus images in the past, but this is somehow very different!
