You know how there are certain movie stars who are ugly-hot? Like James Wood {circa 1988} or Harvey Keitel {in the piano}
This little Palisades house has my, 'foxy ugly' vote. A fuxgly fixer upper. {just save the wallpaper please}

I like pink but this is freaking ridiculous!
My first thought after looking at those pictures was "I bet it smells like grandma's house in there".
Love the pink.
This has great potential. The bones are good. And I long to make a courtyard of some sort out of that expanse of paving out front. And it wants a gallery to add interest to the façade, to make it more like an old Monterey house.
You could so make this your own and the light is amazing.
Wow. That's a lot of retro in one place! Is that all (I mean, other than things like the flat screen tv) original to the house? I like matchy-matchy, but that's a little too much for me. You're right though - keep (at least some of) that wallpaper! And what a lovely structure. Wish I had that kind of cash (and lived in California).
Soooo many things you could do with this place!
There is nothing better than walking through a home that is a perfectly preserved time warp. I assume this house smells of old cats and Jean Naté, and therefore would need a good scrub down and refurbishing. Otherwise, I would keep it exactly as is.
* OMG, "my EYES, my EYES"!!!!
Then again, it IS Pacific Palisades... (Yessireebob, "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION"!!!
Happy weekend, kiddo!

great light, great space. and yes wallpaper -- especially the blue/white in the bedroom. and the yellow chairs in two bottom pics. oh, i keep coming back to these pictures. good call megan, it is just like that strange attraction you have towards that ugly but manly guy. you know when you're not quite sure why you have it, but it is instantaneously there and you can't stop yourself from being soooo dirty curious?
It definitely is a time wrap. Is there a provenance to some of that furniture? The blue bedroon isn't too bad. And yes, there is a grandmother smell hidden here. But an amazing house, nonetheless.
Have a great week-end.
nice. All I need is an additional $2 m now...
Oh yes, preserve the wall paper, got to wonder what era the rest of it is from though. Great location and all that but what a fixer upper.
holy toledo bat man...I hear the Brady's Theme marching through my head
Yuk, I like retro but I could not live in this.... Depressing. And the price is even more depressing. I have been to PP and there is an underlying bad vibe there....the people look unhappy.
Wow....
That house is ugly foxy indeed. The pink kitchen is just plain ugly.
the bathrooms, which I chose to omit are really depressing.
and yes, real estate in this tiny part of the nation, still remains ridiculous. The cost is only depressing if you want to live here.
If you don't, then it makes you really happy that you live where you live and get what you can get for so little in comparison.
I should knock on the door of this place and see what the new owners have done since buying it.
EEEEEEEEEE ....... retro .... retro ... retro .... How could we have ever thought this was nice at one time?????
Save the pink! Seriously, I say the new owner should work with it. Can you imagine the possibilities? Pink mixers and blenders from Williams Sonoma, etc. That kitchen could be amazing with some work! Where do you find an original crazy pink kitchen?
Actually, that aqua sofa is growing on me... this house has some great potential, and the location goes without saying!
last comment...I promise...looking back again...just save the pink and green tile in the kitchen. Get rid of the nasty pink cabinets and awful pink wallpaper. Still like the idea of a "subdued" pink kitchen, and I love the fact that it has the original tile!
Oh. My. Blog.
I wonder if the original owners are the sellers?
oh my god. this is SO AWESOME. totally one of those homes where you'd almost rather work with the ugliness than against it just because it's that kitchy cool. and, livin' in pali isn't a bad move either ;)
I agree! And I must say I adore than pink/green kitchen! ;)
xxM
great find! lots of potential in the home itself & with the furniture in there as well.
