makes me feel all loopy
i think i'm rather a traditionalist, at heart. traditional with a bit of p&v thrown in for good measure.
this may be why i see this pimped out, francis elkins 'loop' chair and a winsome grin falls over my face.
i love this chair in any form. but this , super groovy take on the classic version? knocks my socks off. i've always seen this chair as feminine, spunky and youthful. sort of the audrey hepburn, 'roman holiday' of chairs.
and now, the orange lacquer and cowhide just turned it into 'rhoda morgenstern' for me (which is a good thing)-- young, free thinking, sassy and uniquely beautiful.
a little morsel that i just learned about this chair:
"although Ms. Elkins frequently used these whimisical chairs in her projects, there is no documentation or proof that she designed them herself. As a matter of fact, they can be found regularly in the sets of many MGM films of the forties"
the orange lacquer piece can be found at dragonetteltd.com and i thank peakofchic for generously contributing her photo (which i didn't get the go ahead on first)
