turn that racket down!

is this music addition completely annoying? i was giving it a test drive. but i'm thinking music is so subjective--it may be the blogger version of the guy in the fiero, with shakira cranked.

I personally turn off the music when I go to a site that has it. Not that I don't like the music, but I rather concentrate on what I am reading. Most music players you can set to have it off, and the person visiting the site can turn it on if they wish.

The first time the music came on, I thought my computer was possessed, then I realized it was just the blog (I'm a bit behind the times). I must admit the Cameltoe song cracks me up every time it comes on, and I've clicked on the blog a few times just to hear it! The nice thing is, if one doesn't want to read and listen at the same time, the music is easy enough to turn off.

I'm torn on this too. I love it because I hear different music that I may not have, but I can't listen to it while I'm reading...I end up reading them same thing over and over. I love your selection though!

But like everyone else said, not a biggie because you can always pause it while you're reading.

So I like your taste in music. And I think the feature is kinda cool. But I also usually listen to my own tunes while I'm catching up on my design blogs...so that gets to be kind of auditorily confusing, if that's a word.

Ack... I hate when websites have music since sometimes I check blogs when I am in public places or on the phone.I'd love links to your favorite music, but the fact that it comeson automatically is driving me nuts.

and i TOO can't read and listen to music. but i thought i was the only one. because, in college, everyone seem to have pearl jam or some such going while they were studying.

not me, i need NO distractions. my head is like a bouncy house as it is.

anon- thank you for finding the humor in 'camel toe' that cd is actually pretty incredible. great back story to the group.
that song was number one in nyc the summer of '03.

I prefer the choice to turn it on to listen - even if it's my favorite music. Especially since I check out blog while taking a break in the office. Secretly sometimes I sneak peek while I'm working too (hey... I often work silly l-o-n-g hours in the advertising biz. being able to sneak a blog gets me through. it's my perk! shhh! don't give me away - or make frantically search for the mute key!).
I read other comments earlier. Yeah, I found I was turning music off so I could concentrate on reading.
Loved the tunes, though.

At first I wasn't sure, but then I kept your site open while I worked/surfed/wasted a little too much time and I really love your choices! Much more fun than the thousand plus songs I have in itunes. How do I google "What the $@%* was I thinking" and get the title of that song? OMG, the El Segundo song is now playing. You so totally rock. You need a little ticker that runs across the top "Now Playing.."
It's a cool touch. If you're not sure why not have an OFF button near the top?

I agree - Megan move the music box up top instead of on the bottom, that way if you are already listenin to something is you can turn it off really quick instead of having to search to find it. I personally love music boxes - I've discovered great music that way. Sophie Honesysuckle has a great one, it lasts for hours and hours and it's all great nostaglia type of music.

I love your blog and usually read it late at night when I am working and my kids are in bed. The music (though great) is too distracting for me. I feel like I live in an ant farm as it is! On/Off option sounds great.

I like your music...but I check my favorite blogs at work, and the first time it came on my bosses head spun around a few times...then I figured out how to turn it off. My request would be either to make it otional whether to turn it on, or make the "OFF" button super easy to find...I do love your blog.

i love seeing your playlist BUT i usually read your blog at work...which is getting increasingly harder to do!

BB8 - I'm a lurker of 8 months and a blogger for less than 30 days (for whatever thats worth) and LOVE the music. Since you are in "LA" and have access to the latest its nice. Middle of the country, suburban wifey doesn't get that access. I so hope that you keep it.

There's a link in the player to "launch the standalone player"… could you just link to that? Then the people that want to hear the music could click it, and the people that don't (or can't because of being at work) just don't click?

Or is there an option to turn off the autoplay?

I like your taste in music (I have a lot of the same songs), but I like things quiet while I read.

I really can't handle the music... please please please move the off switch up higher. Or better yet, let people click to play it if they are interested.

I love your blog, but I'll be tuning out if the music stays.
