baring my sole(s)

the closet: the innards: oh...and here's the other side (picture cheesy sliding mirrored doors) this is the current state of my closet floor. and do you know what? sometimes i straighten it up and at others....i just leave it. because, really i don't care that much.
i know, this is a bit like seeing someone you hardly know in their underpants. it's unnerving.
in the next few weeks, i'm going to be giving you an inside look of closets belonging to bloggers and friends. because no matter how you spin your art directed life, there's always a loose cog in the wheel.

oh my dear god you have more shoes than DSW. I like how the sparkly Indian slippers are located next to the New Balance tennis shoes, just in case.

Fun post idea!
I like seeing inside other people's closets. :)

I'm a little crazy… my house and its many rooms may get messy, but I keep my closets clean and organized. It gives me a feeling of control maybe?

courtney, i know it. and i've actually gotten rid of some shoes. scary eh. the bad thing is, on most days, i'm in flip flops. so why the need for all the shoes???

I get really freaked out if someone happens to see my closet - I've decided that my closet does not reflect the person I want to be. Does any other room in the house force us to confront these feelings of inadequacy and chaos?

Strange closet story - there was a girl who used the same cleaners as me whose name was almost the same as mine (first and last). One day they couldn't find my pants and the cleaners tracked them down to the other girl. Soon after I happened to meet her for the first time (she had a fab gourmet market) and I said as my opening statment "My pants were in your closet!" We were instantly more comfortable with each other. Strange.

I couldn't take my eyes off the mirror reflecting your bed. Where is that beautiful white bed you once had? Oh, I loved it! So charming in a beach house bungalow.

oh my! i just photographed my closet this morning, because i am about to embark on a major clean out and organize endeavor (nothin makes you feel better than analyzing your before & after shots). considering the huggable hangers... and maybe shoe storage... my shoes are PATHETIC, I can't even get to the bottom on the stack! look forward to seeing your closet feature!!! i'll share mine when it's complete!

Thank God another person who lets her closet(s) get like that. I have been thinking that as an adult now, I shouldn't be letting my closet get that messy. But since I am an adult now (aged 37) I can do whatever I damn well please with my closets!

When we moved to our new/old house I was so excited, because I didn't have to share a closet with my hubby anymore. It was going to be such luxery! AND I would also have full use of the guest room closet. Heaven! This was when I was younger and much more naive. Old houses do NOT have big closets, and even though I have my own, it is still as small as a coffin. I have the same shoe issues as you and am constantly in need of carting another load of crap to the Salvation Army so I can uncover the usable stuff. It is comforting to know I am not alone!

anon I KNOW!!! isn't that sad? i had to move a king sized bed into my room and the old bed was a queen. i have it in storage. i loved it too. my padded head board arrives next week. very excited. a diffrent look entirely though.

no old houses have miserable closet space. thus the need for an armoire!

I love your honesty!!! My closet gets organized a couple times of year but rapidly regresses to much the same state as yours.

Funny story. My husband, with the neat side of the closet, I think in hopes of shaming me into neatness in my closet decided to show my best friend (at that time a new acquaintance) our house. He included showing her my closet which was a disaster much to my embarrassment. My best friend now of many years said she knew in that instant we would be great friends b/c her closet looked the same way.

Messy closet do not equal bad people as some would insinuate!

So comforting to know I am not alone! My husband just bought me some hanging shoe rack organizers as a "surprise". I would have preferred flowers, but I got the hint. My shoe pile is out of control.

Oh my gosh...you just made me feel so much better! I am that crazy girl who cleans and reorganizes her closet EVERY single WEEK, but only because the majority of the week it looks eerily similar to this, and I finally go bananas and need to refresh.

And then I looked in the mirror and saw the rest of the room, and WOW. That is quite a pad, lady. VERY nicely done. I'm green with envy!

lily! i'm glad that you saw the point behind this : )

i have a hard time believing that even the most perfectly turned out home doesn't have a messy little drawer or space SOMEplace.

brave girl! we all have closets like that ('cept maybe martha). i have one closet completely filled (as in floor to ceiling) with empty cardboard boxes (ebay shipping), and another filled with lamps/shades/parts. my actual clothes closet is kinda empty (what can i say- i'm no fashion gay: a couple of jackets, some shirts, a few jeans, converse and flip-flops in every color, and a black suit, in case somebody gets married or dies).

and bb8? i won't judge you on your messy closet (like i said, we've all got 'em), but would you please put a handle on the drawer that is missing one? it's not an aesthetic issue, it's a safety issue- how the heck do you get that thing open?

thanks- i'll sleep easier.
