on a roll

i don't know, maybe it was that i just wanted to join the 'imperial trellis out the ass society' maybe i felt like, the world domination of kelly wearstler , needed my support. or maybe i was just bored one day and decided to pay -what amounts to putting 2 kids through college...on a couple of rolls of wallpaper. whatever the case. it arrived, tuesday and yesterday i spent the afternoon cutting and pasting, like an insane wallpapering woman.
crazed, i worked. i was on a mission. unaware of the world around me. up and down the step ladder, cutting. measuring. panting, blowing the hair out of my eyes.
and then.... 'mom, we're hungry' i spun around on my stepladder, looking up, down wildly saucer eyed, (what? who are these people staring up at me? what could they possibly want. i'm PAPERING with imperial trellis, for god's sake!) again, 'MOM. we're hungry' oh. jeeze. ok, right, right. um, dinner, uh....here eat this hotdog bun. and then i was back. positioning, pasting, measuring, cutting....on and on (took me, freaking, forever)
and then, at 9:30 p.m. i was done. my god. i was done. i think i may have gone blind in the process. but you know what? i love it. and i did it myself.

IT LOOKS SO FREAKING AMAZING!!!!! I love the smokey color against the bright blue walls. I love it.

And, Megan, YOU DID IT! I can't believe you papered it yourself. My 90 yr old paper man who has been doing this since he was 15 cursed me with my Imperial Trellis. He said it was one of the hardest jobs he's ever done! I'm so impressed with you and your awesome efforts. Now, just sit back in those cute chairs and stare. You deserve at least 3 days worth of nothing but staring.

HOLY CANOLI.
Welcome to "the society".
I have the sickness too, in fabric not paper. But we've already discussed this.
I cannot believe you did it yourself. I am uber-impessed.
It looks SWEET. (I can't believe I just said "sweet".
Peace,
erika
Oh my goodness, it looks GORGEOUS!!! Way to go!!

Good work Megan! It looks wonderful.
Ohhhhh, I have been jonesing for Imperial Trellis for months now. I think I'm going to have to take that leap. You did SUCH an amazing job.
What's your secret to perfect papering? I could use some tips!

It looks gorgeous, but I'm kind of surprised you didn't do the ceiling instead after yesterdays post ;-0
Wo. Beautiful, beautiful job, Megan. Totally new dimension-added dimension to that corner of your kitchen-dining room-entry way-bungalow. Just perfect addition!!

And now you get to say, "I did." to the predictable question, "So, who's your paper guy?"

actually, you could say, "I did and I also built this house with my bare hands".

thank you. courtney, your house the final inspiration to just DO IT. and i thought of your hallway the whole time.

bb- i plan on doing that jock stance, where my chin is pulled into my neck, mouth a little slack, eyes closed, head cocked to the side a bit... a little quick breathe, 'ya. totally did it'

i can't do my ceilings they're incredibly low and i think it would only enhance the whole dilemma! but , someday i'm doing a ceiling dammit!

OMG!!! I applaud your efforts. I hung a trellis wallpaper (not this one) last summer in 95 degree heat/humidity. The matches were so impossible and the drop was something like 28". I feel your pain!!! GREAT GREAT JOB, Megan!!!

OK, that is the funniest post. It sadly reminds me of myself when I'm on a decorating rampage. Glad to know I'm not the only crazy design addicted mom out there. Your dining room looks amazing, perfect! I looove that wallpaper and have been torn between it and the Orla Kiely wallpaper (red) at Anthropologie (much cheaper and easier to get.) Love your blog!

WOW. Congrats on a fantastic job! I love that pattern, and am impressed you did it all by yourself. I would be happy looking at that wall all day long.

omg, sally wheat!! i saved all of the images of your house and they're sitting in their very own file on my desk top. 'wheat house'. love your house. it's super fine.

i'm so glad you stopped in and are a sister in the crazy mom decorator bond. i believe their are many of us who would abandon our nurturing duties to hang a little kwid.

and anh-minh i STALK your site all of the time. how exciting to see you here too! thanks for the comment.

I LOVE IT!!! It really looks lovely and I'm so impressed that you did it yourself. Don't you hate it when your kids decide they're hungry when you're in the middle of a project? Ha ha!!

that looks great. Did you need alot of extra paper to make the matches work?

Gorgeous. For something so seemingly easy, Wallpapering is SUCH a pain so congrats...quite an accomplishment!!!!!!!

It looks so fabulous- do you see it when you come in the front door? I love the way the chairs and table look with it too. Just perfection - could not be any better, seriously. I'm jealous - where I can use this paper??????

Looks Fab !! The bad thing is once you figure out how to hang paper yourself all your friends will want you to "help" them hang their paper - Beware!!!!!

Wow! It's so chic. Great job, can't believe you did it yourself. Sounds like me when I want something done that very minute and can't find a worker bee!!!! Congrats!

Oh. Oh, heavens. It's stunning. It's a vignette.

and its all really really straight - you should be proud
but for the record - as i sit with real tuition bills on my desk - (you start paying in july for sept and finish in april or no diploma in june - im starting year 3) the paper times 10 wouldn't come close - contrast welting on real leather seats in a new range rover - thats the cost of tuition these days = but i get your point - and buy all you need the fabric et all now because when you really start paying tuition - you'll never afford any of it .... oh and for the record your papering job very well done- i would never have been so brave for fear of tiring of the bold - but you may have swayed me .

This is fanTAStic!!! I must go find a wall in my house and get into that society you mention!!!

LOVE IT!

someone asked me about the 'repeat' and calculating that number, in to your needed amount.

YES, you must know the repeat of the pattern. this has a 10" repeat. so i calculated an extra 20" on to my entire length. for good measure. this required two single rolls and the wall was almost a perfect square of 7' x 7'

LOVE IT!!! great job - you are inspiring and have a great eye to know how fabulous that would come out. - I love wall paper as an accent - I did a slanted ceiling in my daughter room last year - yes, slanted! It was pink toile horses on cream. My hair had paste in it for a week! I balanced the unhung paper on my head while I smoothed it on. Ahh, a mother's love!
It's looks fantastic and even better you did it yourself, that's amazing!!

It looks great especially with the chairs that I believe are from West Elm! I've been wanting to wallpaper, but I'm afraid I wouldn't do nearly as good of a job as you have! Congrats!

I love the wallpaper, but my curiousity is really sparked by that painting! where is it from?
Whatever the reason was. What a great choice. It looks spectacular.

Thanks for the inspiration-I LOVE this wallpaper and plan to do it on the back wall in my dining room too. What color did you paint your walls? It's such a pretty color combo!
