I feel like I saw a similar arrangement of pool shots in another magazine really close to the time I saw this one - it was deja-Ruscha!
There's an exhibit at the High Museum (Atlanta) right now of Richard Misrach's work. If you like Ruscha I think you'll love Misrach - they are really fantastic and right up your alley with the whole beach theme.
