fold school

patience and a lot of time on one's hand. Paper art has been around for over a thousand years, finding its roots in Japan, but rarely getting the mention that it deserves. Folded, cut, pasted, prodded, carved or quilled....these are all, so, completely off the hook....

Pretty amazing work. I think one of my favorite Japanese art genres is the intricate folding of fabric on Kabuki (sp?) dolls. The fabric itself is wonderful, but the precision of the folding brings the fabric into focus.

Just so cool, I saw a lot of 3 - D papers this year during the holidays. It makes me want to get out the construction paper, glue and be a first grader again!!
