flea bites

a few bites from the santa monica flea market this weekend. {the 8 went home with me} and the one that got away. i just couldn't justify the price. she was asking {$175.00} and, no, it wasn't hand done.

Looks like a fun weekend. The needlepoint bag looks so vintage...love it!

I love the purse but I'm with you - $175.00 is more than I would pay.

You're more disciplined than I, SistaBB8.
'Cause, that handbag would be swinging on my arm, right now..........

The pedestal, under the cake dome, looks stone-ish - or, from this vantage point, possibly melamine?

Nice show with your "Chic" magazine segment - I appreciate authentic & qualified writers/contributors who walk the walk & talk the talk........Alison

Good scoop on the "8".

Yikes! $175?! Flea season by me has turned up some very, very overpriced objects. I think the jig is up -- everyone fleas now, so people think their stuff is worth a lot more than it is.

if i'm still thinking about that purse, 'swinging on my arm' next month, i'm going back for it.

the thing with that purse or with flea markets here, is that a lot of the vendors sell to wardrobe and production designers~ for feature films and television. and those are the fellow buyers one competes with at the flea markets. so the prices get thrown out of whack.

PATRICA GRAY! in the house! how are you?? i feel really good that you've anointed my purchase. thank you. it looks great up on my wall.

Oh I miss this market so much! I used to almost be able to walk to it from my house. *sob* thanks for the memories!

Megan - I THINK, which is dicey any day of the week, that all needlepoint is hand-done. Joni Sherman (you tell her she's wrong)told me this years ago. You cannot replicate it with machine. The closest you can come is grospoint. So, it might be poorly done, probably by some woman in a badly lit room for 20 cents (oops, my politics is showing) but if Joni is right, no machine. This might help with the price, tho, It seems a bit high to me. But I am a cheapskate. And I live in KC.
