Arrrh! You're making me want a velvet couch again! =)
I've always liked velvet - it's so luxurious. This is a great roundup.

Just in case anyone is looking, there are two Anthropologie Amelie velvet sofas on Dallas Craigs list:

I'm afraid I have to bring it back to red velvet cake....velvet couch, velvet cake. Sorta the same thing?

Am I seeing a return to luxurious design? Away from stark 20th c. design and towards embracing rooms with rich details? Hope so.

Anything orange is great in my book.
Gorgeous post and I'm all about velvet!! In my home office I have a 1920's glam Rococo-inspired canape in turqouise velvet with gilted wood frame. I set it off with fushia color family Jim Thompson silk pillows and it's divine!

Once they are worn in, they are mostly comfy. We had a tufted gold velvet sofa and chairs as our furniture when I was younger, I hated them then but wish I had them now!

The velvet sofas are lovely but I never really got beyond the sleeping dog. Sooooo sweet!

When I was a kidlet, we had a fantastic royal blue velvet/velour sofa that I WISH I had the foresight to keep (even though I was about 8 when it departed!) It went perfectly with our very Florence Broadhurst-esque blue, white and black 70's mod curtains. I hated them growing up, but looking back...they were so fantastic!
