pretty pleasing

some days are just made for posting things like these. Posts that serve no other purpose than just 'pretty'.
Actually that's not true I think each one of these interior shots offers some little tidbit of inspiration whether it's the Rose Cummings navy "Zebrine" wallpaper (which I've always loved)
the always great, China Seas, 'Aga' wallpaper which looks great, paired with, what I believe is La musardière By Manuel Canovas (if I'm wrong, let me know) love the pinks, greens and dark brown together.
We interrupt this post with a late breaking report. Reader 'Cyn' has just informed me that this is HER house! Luck.
She has told me that the toile is Quadrille's Paradise Garden { she, of kindred design spirit, is a big Quadrille fan } I'll let her tell you a little more...
"The exterior shot, the kitchen, the office, the dining room, living room, and the wet bar is the product of 2+ years of renovation. My husband is a green architect who did all the plans.
Our house is completely green, and we wanted to teach others that a you can be traditional/beautiful and eco-friendly - they are not mutually exclusive. The house we bought 7 years ago was a tiny ranch house that we compleletly renovated and lived in during construction - with a 4 month old baby! Yikes...." Cyn, thanks so much for letting us know about your amazing home. You've combined all of my great loves so successfully and skillfully. Big ups to you and your husband. ............................................................................................................................................................
or the tonal dining room with the painted floor.
or the ikea chair that looks chic and not cheap simply by adding a great pillow (beauty on a budget y'all)

vintage cricket boots

crickets get the best clothes.

photographer::elizabeth weinberg::

the 'peace out' posted on Friday was the work of Brooklyn based Photographer, Elizabeth Weinberg. Weinberg was selected as one of PDN's 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch in 2010.
Her unique approach to creating images that make the viewer feel as if they, themselves are the ones behind the lens, creating an almost tactile experience.
You can almost smell the impending rain storm, hear the music playing on the road trip and feel the movement of the waves.....
There were so many great shots on her site, I had a hard time narrowing it down to these. Check out her site for more. *here*

can't stop stairing....

I don't think that's a disco ball on the top landing. But if that were my house? it would be.

what you looking at monday?

Crab Apple Monday can bring it as far as I'm concerned. She with her tightly wound, pursed and disapproving mug. All the while trying to passively convey that Mondays are not for dilly-dallying (you just had 2 days off, you slack) Ya, bring it ON Monday, because I'm coming into this week flying high and rolling with the punches. On Friday (good old buddy Friday, whom we all love for his happy go lucky ways) I found out that I was in TWO publications. Nesting Newbies and Romantic Homes. And that's the sort of high that keeps on keepin' on....Miss Monday.
I'm also very proud to be in such great company of other bloggers in these publications: Paris Hotel Boutique, Aphro Chic and, the Australian, Vintage Beach with me in Romantic Homes.

also, I have to give some big ups to my friends over at the online magazine, Nesting Newbies for getting out another fantastic issue. And I'm so super flattered that they asked me to be a part of this issue!

upcycled street banners become bags at Poketo

first of all, let me just say, I love everything about the quirky, innovative, creative design company that is 'Poketo'.
Poketo, founded by the adorable, Ted Vadkan and Angie Myung promotes the work of top international artists by showcasing the original work on fun, limited edition art products, accessories, apparel, and decor.
I recently ran across these beautiful and incredibly affordable {19 dollars} bags made from recycled, South Korean street banners - what an awesome idea .

cherry blossom girl

My 12 year old daughter is completely obsessed with all things Japanese. Which, considering the alternatives, isn't such a bad thing { justin bieber much ? }. Not to mention she picked one of the best cultural design meccas in the world {clicks to that, sweet child o' mine}
In thinking about creating a bedroom for her that reads Japanese, but not too literally, not too theme-y, I pulled together some Cherry Blossom or Flowering Quince patterns as starting points:
Of course, there's Clarence House's Flowering Quince. The grande dame of all these branchy organic looking prints.
and then there's the Urban knock off of the print {which I'm not sure is available anymore }
House of Fabrics, carries this by the yard for around $16.00.
or maybe we could just give a nod to the whole pattern with a simple pillow.
and a cute cherry blossom accessory from etsy
wellies as a vase? cute.

it's black and white

byredo perfume. ( made from freshly squeezed, swedish gypsies )
the ghost camera
modern art + vintage camera love = white ceramic polaroid camera
chalk board globe.
Makes for a great parlor game. ( quick, name the 30 provinces in Iran. )
sylvia plath hot pads
cool graphic army blanket
white tank watch, for summer 'n stuff.

anyhow, anyway- be thankful.

This beautiful video, set to the song by Brown Study was directed by Leah Dieterich, who also has one of the most novel ideas for a blog. ever.
thx thx thx.- a thank you note a day, is Dietrerich's blog, based on her mother's directive to always write thank you notes.
And so she does, to everything from bruises to uncertainty.
via bonjour bruxelles
And to think you woke up this morning, hit the alarm clock and groaned that it was Monday. Where's your gratitude?

peace out

What's the deal. Is something in retrograde? What a, phenomenally, weird week that was. Time to press the restart button and cruise into the free floating, gray area of 'weekend'. recharge our senses, rub the dust from our eyes, scrub our faces pink and hold them up to next week's approval.
Oh and, post script: Thank you, Susannah over at Petunia Faced Girl for making me laugh all week over the funniest post I've read in a long time -
" Oh--also? I had a conversation with a stranger while in a public restroom stall.
Her: Hey! How are you?
Me (not wanting to be rude): Um, fine? How are you?
Her: What are you doing?
Me (mystified, too nervous to pee): Uh, you know, just going to the bathroom! Ha!
Her: Hold on a second, there's some chick in the other stall trying to talk to me.
Me: (_*_) "
thank you for that. I'm still sitting at stoplights, guffawing aloud when I think of it.
dare I ask.....what do you think of the new header?

The simplicity of this space creates a focus on the incredible wood grain used throughout.
